Top ten tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @That Artsy reader Girl. She provides us with a prompt every week to write a bookish lists. I personally don’t participate every week, just when I like a certain prompt or when I can think of a fun twist on it.
This week we got “Books on my winter 2022-2023 to be read list”
So I’m doing just that! Today I will be sharing (only) 5 seasonal books that I plan to read this winter. Then in the next seasonal tbr post, I will update you on these 5 and share 5 new books I plan to read that season.

Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell
“A romantic cabin getaway doesn’t go exactly as planned. High up on the windswept cliffs of Pale Peak, Faye and Felix celebrate their new engagement. But soon, a chorus of ghastly noises erupts from the nearby woods: the screams of animals, the cries of children, and the mad babble of a hundred mournful voices. A dark figure looms near the windows in the dead of night, whispering to Faye. As the weather turns deadly, Felix discovers that his terrified fiancé isn’t just mumbling in her sleep […]“
This one has been on my radar for a while, ever since Gabby (from Gabbyreads) read it and had to sleep with the lights on. I heard the prologue jumps right into the action and is VERY scary. So I’m curios what that’s all about. It’s set at a snowy isolated cabin so it seems like winter is the perfect time to read this one!

Near the Bone by Christina Henry
“Mattie can’t remember a time before she and William lived alone on a mountain together. She must never make him upset. But when Mattie discovers the mutilated body of a fox in the woods, she realizes that they’re not alone after all. There’s something in the woods that wasn’t there before, something that makes strange cries in the night, something with sharp teeth and claws. When three strangers appear on the mountaintop looking for the creature in the woods, Mattie knows their presence will anger […]”
This one is also set at a snowy isolated cabin. I’ve got a little theme going on here. I usually don’t care about which season a book is set in and just read it at any moment. But this year I feel like trying out some wintery books when it’s actually cold outside too. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this one and I’ve been wanting to try out a book by Christina Henry for a while!

A Man Called One by Fredrik Backman
“Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon, the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him the bitter neighbor from hell, but must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time? Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move […] “
I have absolutely loved every book I’ve read by Fredrik Backman and I’m ready to read another one of his books soon. I’m trying to spread them out a little and savor them. I also felt like I needed something emotional on my winter TBR list and I’ve heard this e real tearjerker.
–
Kiss Her Once for Me by Alison Cohrun
“One year ago, recent Portland transplant Ellie Oliver had her dream job in animation and a Christmas Eve meet-cute with a woman at a bookstore that led her to fall in love over the course of a single night. But after a betrayal the next morning and the loss of her job soon after, she finds herself adrift, alone, and desperate for money. Finding work at a local coffee shop, she’s just getting through the days—until Andrew, the shop’s landlord, proposes a shocking, drunken plan: a marriage of convenience that will […] “
I will occasionally read some romance and I’ve decided this is my next pick! I want to try out another seasonal romance. I’ve only tried In A Holidaze before and I felt like that didn’t really deliver on the warm festive coziness, so I hope this one does!
–
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree
“Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv the orc barbarian cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may […]”
Described as “A hot cup of fantasy slice-of-life with a dollop of romantic froth.” sounds like the perfect cozy read to curl up with on a cold day!
